On Thursday 8th May 2025, we mark the historic 80th anniversary of VE Day and celebrate 80 years of peace since the end of World War Two in Europe. To mark this special anniversary, we are offering a discounted day entry rate. Plan a visit to the Museum to hear stories of those who sacrificed so much to secure victory, see our unique collection of World War Two gliders, explore our 1940s house, and take a moment to pay your respects at the memorials which pay tribute to those that lost their lives in the service of British Army aviation.
There will also be the opportunity to see a new temporary display: 'Echoes of War: Army Aviation 1939 – 1945' which will feature Second World War highlights from the Museum collection. Visitors will see artefacts and documents that provide a unique insight into Army aviation during the global conflict, along with excerpts from recordings of those who were there. The display will be available to view from Thursday 8th May 2025 to Sunday 31st August 2025.
A moving soundtrack of words and music will be played in the Museum's Hayward Hall (second hangar) from the 8th – 10th May, giving visitors a chance to remember, commemorate and reflect. (Please be aware, our Helicopter in Action show will not be running.)
There will also be VE80 activity sheets available and a trail for younger visitors to learn more about the Second World War.
