The Army Flying Museum at Middle Wallop are looking forward to welcoming visitors throughout the half term holidays to participate in lots of fun craft activities and trails within the Museum, with craft activities taking on a marble and maze theme for the month of May.
The warmer weather also gives a wonderful opportunity for visitors to take a seat on the café balcony which overlooks the airfield or at the picnic tables in the outdoor play area to view a variety of aircraft flying in and out of Middle Wallop.
One of the most popular activities at the Museum over the last year has been the regular Model Making and Painting sessions staged during the holidays and for May, these will take place on the 25th and 29th of the month. The sessions are run by the charity Models for Heroes and are included in the general admission price, however demand for the sessions has meant that despite two generous donations, the charity are desperate for more help to enable these and the monthly sessions for veterans to take place.
Development Manager Louise Mackay said “We are so grateful to Models for Heroes for running these sessions at the Museum and we are incredibly thankful for previous donations of model kits to support the team. Sadly, we need more model kits to enable us to keep this popular activity running in the future. If you are able to help, we would love to hear from you.”
A new activity for May half term will be the chance to dress up like a soldier on Thursday 29th, when the team from the Museum will be on hand to encourage families to don the camouflage from the Museum’s dress up collection – a great photo opportunity and lots of fun to be had!
On Friday 30th, the Hayward Hall at the Museum will welcome some very lovely visitors from Em’s Friendly Farm, with sheep, goats, a pig and a pony giving a very different backdrop to the usual sites visitors expect to see within the Museum.
All activities are included with a general admission ticket which gives visitors a free annual pass to the Museum. With many more activities planned for the summer, including the return
of the Three Bees Project and a first time visit from Fun Science with their amazing science experiments and crafts, the annual pass is sure to be a popular choice this half term, giving visitors fabulous value for money.
Lucy Johnson, CEO of the Army Flying Museum said: “We always enjoy offering a variety of free family activities during the school holidays and it is also lovely to see the soft play area and the outdoor playground being used so much. These activities really do give visitors so much added value for their annual passes. Everyone that visits the museum only has to pay once to get a free annual pass, so they can come back as often as they like throughout the year including all the school holidays.”
All holiday activities take place daily from 10.00am-12.30pm from the 26 to 30 May. Visit the Museum’s website at www.armyflying.com to book.
