Special Pre-Screening

The Fallow Few

7pm Monday 9th November

With a presentation and live Q&A from members of the cast and crew, before it moves on to its wider release.

We are delighted to invite you to a special pre-screening at the Army Flying Museum of The Fallow Few, an award-winning British war drama inspired by a true story.

Corporal George Hansen wants to live.

In 1916, on the Western Front, where the average lifespan of a British soldier is just six weeks, that’s asking a lot. Fortunately for George, his childhood friend Assistant Provost Marshal Sydney Oakes offers him a way off the deadly front lines: A seemingly cushy job guarding British deserters the night before their dawn executions by firing squad.

George leaps at the opportunity, but it isn’t long before shepherding broken teenagers to their officer-sanctioned murders crushes his spirit. It is the ultimate form of survivor’s guilt – the knowledge that he lives only because he is a willing participant in the unjust deaths of his brothers-in-arms.

And the deaths are unjust. Oakes is an obstinate executioner who derives pleasure from the power afforded to him as a leading member of the British Military Police. He sees the public killings of shell-shocked young men as an effective deterrent to further desertions. Anyone who gets in his way will quickly find themselves either facing down a firing squad or on a suicide mission charging across No Man’s Land…

…But George’s passive endorsement of these killings is eating him from within.

When he strikes up a friendship with his newest charge, Lieutenant Edwin Dyett, an upper-class Eton graduate due for execution the following morning, George realizes his time letting Oakes murder these children unchallenged has come to an end.

With dawn approaching like a volley of bullets from a line of Lee-Enfields, George enlists the help of a kind-hearted priest and a naïve new recruit to secure Edwin a stay of execution at the last possible moment.

Because for George, this isn’t just about saving Edwin, it’s about saving himself.

This award-winning British First World War feature film, starring Sir Tony Robinson, has a special connection to Hampshire. The Fallow Few was financed in Hampshire, filmed in Hampshire, and is now returning to Hampshire from Hollywood ahead of its wider release.

The screening will be followed by a special presentation and live Q&A with the director, writer, producer and one or two members of the cast, offering audiences the chance to hear first-hand about the making of the film, its historical inspiration and the journey from Hampshire to the screen.

Don’t miss this special opportunity to see The Fallow Few before its wider release.
