Temporary Display
Palaces for the People
Prefabs of the Temporary Housing Programme 1944 to 1948

At the end of the Second World War, Britain faced a severe housing shortage. This was addressed through the widespread construction of prefabricated homes, known as ‘prefabs’. This Spring, a Museum temporary display tells the story of these innovative ‘Palaces for the People’ and includes a 1/12 scale model of a Uni-Seco prefab.
Special thanks to the Rockhill family and to the Prefab Museum for their help with this temporary display.
